Probably more than any other type of makeup, how you work your foundation can make or break your beauty look. Here’s some tips for getting it right.
DO’s
-Do spend a little extra on a good foundation – lipsticks come and go but foundation should be high quality, make you look fabulous, and last as long as possible.
-Do check ingredients – just because it says “Oil Free” doesn’t necessarily mean it is completely free of oil unfortunately.
-Do read reviews, check out recommendations, and ask the pro’s at the makeup counter for advice and assistance in getting the right tone.
-Do let your moisturizer soak in before applying – that way it won’t get all streaky.
-Do apply mineral foundation to your eyelids to prevent your eye shadow from creasing.
DON’TS
-Don’t forget to blend, blend, blend! This includes passed your jawline and along your neck so you don’t get that nasty tide mark.
-Don’t apply foundation to your hand when shopping for the right shade. Your hands are rarely the same color as your face. Check directly on your face instead.
-Don’t just check your makeup in bathroom mirror light & go – bite the bullet and look at your made up face in NATURAL LIGHT so you don’t end up looking a fool.
-Don’t let product and bacteria build up on your brushes – wash them out regularly especially if you have a tendency to break out.
-Don’t take it all too seriously – educate yourself but have fun with it.
Alright, hope that helps you stay beautiful ;) Got any beauty questions or tips? Feel free to share them in the comments below!
Happy Pretty Making!

I know you are a MAC girl, but what are your fav foundations? Do they change with the seasons? I know mine do. I like a little concealer and StudioFix in the summer, but prefer a liquid in the winter.
Used to use cream to powder foundation when I was younger. Then I started out with Bare Minerals years ago and really liked how minerals treated my skin so I gave up liquid & cream for the most part. I really like MAC’s studio fix because it feels weightless, blends & matches perfectly, and there’s not a lot of crap in it to irritate my skin. It’s my tried and true makeup and I think being consistent with the products I use works well with my skin so it doesn’t have to freak out with new or weird ingredients out of the blue or with the change of seasons. At any rate liquid foundation just doesn’t do it for me currently – however I would really like to try HD foundation sometime since I’ve heard good things about that kind of foundation. As for concealer – I’ve never really felt the need to use it and I don’t like how heavy it feels anyway. I really enjoy wearing makeup but I also treat my skin really well and don’t pile many layers on top of it.
