Woke up today feeling quite blue. It’s probably a mixture of pre-menstrual bs, the dreary cold weather outside, and my stop-n-start internet connection. Oh yeah, and I read on Shopstyle that today is the “most depressing day of the year”. Gawd. Hard to get stuff done and have enthusiasm for interesting projects when you feel like punching a hole in the universe with your screaming or crying till your eyes bleed huh? Yeah? We girls are sensitive and passionate creatures.

I did my nails the other day – hand painting dark grey on a set of white acrylic tips. Love the look of it but the longer nails are a leetle obnoxious to type with as my talons tap against the rows above my fingers. Ever run into that problem? I get by and it’s not terrible but I’m glad I’m not a stenographer.
Most of the time I can combine my need for daily glamour with my work duties just fine – high heels? check! signature perfume? check check! designer bra? yes indeedy! Just as long as I can walk, think, and type I’m pretty much set for some productivity.
Do you perpetually try and strive for that perfect work/life balance? I’ve got news for you…that perfect balance, ain’t comin. One day your job wants more from you, the next it’s your boyfriend. Even at your job you can get tugged in one direction from your boss and another from your co-workers. And in your personal life the balance tips with your health, your sex life, etc. etc. (say for example for 3 weeks you feel super frisky until your period hits and then you seriously consider the celibate lifestyle of a nun). So seeing your life as something that needs to balance yourself upon like a tightrope or try and balance like a teeter totter ain’t all that effective.
But laundry – that’s a bit easier of a concept to wrap your head around I think. (more…)
Chick flicks are normally considered to be weepy, sappy, estrogen enhancing experiences in entertainment that only really please the female gender right? I don’t really watch too many of those. When it comes to female characters and girl role models I like em fierce, fiesty, rockin, and gutsy. It’s hella motivating to watch a beautiful woman take matters into her own hands and test her strength in the world. I don’t care if it’s fictional or magical – all I care is that a girl makes a legend out of herself from the beginning of the film to the finale.

Ever been in this situation? Barely a few hours into my work day I already feel like screaming and blowing my devices up. This doesn’t bode well for the work WEEK.
So, how do I cope? Take a breath and a break. Then after I’ve returned and finished my processes I take a look at them – and seek inspiration from one of my favorite lifehack blogs: Marc & Angel Hack Life.

This first month of the new year is certainly full of possibilities isn’t it? New this, new that, shiny, sparkly, fresh, promising. Yes, it’s all very exciting isn’t it. Well before you jump all over your new year’s resolutions like a woman on a mission may I suggest you take stock of what you currently have and do a little…laundering. Yep – before you spend your time chasing the new you gotta start with taking care of the NOW.
The body you are in now.
The work you do now.
The people you love now.
The space you are in now. Mentally AND physically.
